At Bayards Hill Primary School, Geography and History are taught as discreet subjects, alternating every short term. Topics allow children to explore the world and the past, as guided by the National Curriculum, whilst building on their skills and understanding. It is taught through the Rising Stars scheme.
Our Geography curriculum aims to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world. We aim to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments so that they can ask questions about the world around them and being to understand interrelations between the earth and people. We cover a range of human, physical an environmental topics that will broaden children's knowledge and understanding of the world around them.
Our History curriculum aims to inspire in pupils a curiosity to know more about the past. We aim to equip children to develop perspective and judgement, to understand the complexity of people's lives, the process of change and the diversity of societies. We cover a range of time periods, cultures and contexts to encourage children to start thinking critically about the past and how it is relevant to their lives today.
