Bayards Hill Wider Curriculum

“Balancing the needs of our students with national curriculum expectations to develop informed, active and responsible citizens who lead confident, healthy and independent lives”

At Bayards Hill we aim to provide a broad and balanced wider curriculum that will help to engage, educate and inspire our students, in addition to meeting their needs. To do this, we embed PSHE, SMSC, British Values and Citizenship throughout our afternoon provision.

As such, each short term at Bayards Hill has an associated theme:

  • Term 1: Know Yourself
  • Term 2: Understand Others
  • Term 3: Work Together
  • Term 4: Aim High
  • Term 5: Think Big
  • Term 6: Even Bigger

We encourage our young citizens to develop socially, spiritually, morally and culturally, in addition to developing their academic knowledge and understanding (in History, Science, RE, PE, Music, Geography, ICT, ART and DT). Taking History as an example, a child would not just learn about King Alfred and the Saxons, but might also explore the qualities Alfred possessed that led to him to be considered a strong leader.

Further Wider Curriculum pages are currently being worked on - clicking a picture below will take you to the relevant new pages once they have been created.
